Cellulite - What is It?

Tissues containing fat, normally situated on the backs of the thighs, abdomen and behind are called cellulites and are mainly found in women. Men can have cellulites too although they are ordinarily whiter or several shades lighter than their natural skin color. A person with good circulation will have an even and smooth layer of skin but in a person with cellulites, fats become stored, along with other poisons, under the skin when under normal circumstances they would be flushed out. These tissues harden and thicken, producing cellulites, bumpy lines in the skin often referred to as the ‘orange peel' appearance.

The visual aspect of the cellulites will depend upon each person's genetics, their lifestyle and the weight of the individual, all of which are elements in cellulite development. Oddly, there are different forms of cellulites and being overweight is only one of the causes of cellulite as sporty and fit women can also suffer and it is found in the muscles of sporty women such as professional dancers and athletes. The hard cellulites bind themselves directly to the muscle tissue and are the toughest to get rid of. The easier cellulites to see are the carbonated type and while they are more ugly because they may seem to hang from the skin and affect larger muscle regions, they are substantially easier to remove.

For women, who are the most likely candidates for cellulites, their appearance can begin from as early as fourteen years of age and will gradually worsen as they mature. Often, cellulites occur because a woman has begun taking the contraceptive pill or has just given birth and even people who have sustained injuries can acquire cellulites.

Exercise and diet are still almost uniformly believed to be the best way to eradicate cellulites because exercise is particularly effective at improving the blood circulation and normally helps reduce the appearance of the cellulites. From the diet standpoint, eating plenty of fruit and vegetables and working with a detoxifying diet, improves the chances of the cellulites disappearing. Whole grain foods are also hugely advocated but foods that should be avoided include regular favorites such as coffee and fizzy drinks.

Some people think that eating spicy foods contributes to the cellulites establishment but no specific proof that this is the case has so far been brought to light. The build up of poisons in the body can also be stopped by not drinking alcohol or smoking. While a low fat diet is always preferably for health, reducing the intake of fatty foods helps subdue the expansion of the cellulites because fat is harder to digest and more challenging to get rid of from your body.

while they cannot entirely get rid of cellulites, cellulite ointments are quite productive in treating and hiding cellulite. The ointments work by making the skin more elastic and contain alpha-hydroxyl acid which doesn't really get rid of the cellulite but helps to hide it. Removing toxins and fat from the system by using water treatment which also helps with digestion and circulation, has the added benefit of aiding in the removal of cellulites.
