Ask The Expert

Dear Stretch Mark Expert,

I’m beginning to notice that I’m getting some red looking lines on my stomach. I thought that stretch marks were more white in color. Are these really stretch marks, or am I dealing with something else.     -  Panicking in PA

Dear Panicking,

Okay, there’s really no reason to panic. These are just good old stretch marks. You see, stretch marks actually start out looking red when they first develop. It is only later when they get older that they go to a more white or silver color. So, the bright red color is not going to last forever. Over time they will become less noticeable. However, if you don’t want to wait for this to occur, there are several products out there on the market today that can help to reduce the appearance of the stretch marks so they don’t look as noticeable.

Products like Strivectin can help you out, or if you really want to get drastic, and tummy tuck can help reduce the stretch marks as well. Just remember, more than likely, nothing is going to totally get rid of your stretch marks, but there may be some products that can help to make them appear a lot less noticeable.
